Pilot version, last updated October 6, 2026.

Privacy notice

Spare Hour is in a small pilot with schools. This notice explains, in plain words, what we collect from school staff who use it, what we do with it, and what we do not do. If anything here is unclear, write to us.

What we collect

  • Your name and work email, from the district Google or Microsoft account you sign in with.
  • Files you upload, and the files the assistant makes for you.
  • Your chats with the assistant.
  • Usage records, such as how much each request cost, so your district can set and track budgets.
  • Preferences the assistant learns from your work, such as the formats you like, so it can do better next time.

What we do not collect

No student data during the pilot. Staff are asked not to enter student names, grades, records or other student information into chats or files. If some is entered by mistake, tell us and we will delete it.

Where it goes

  • Your information is stored on our servers.
  • To answer a request, we send it to the AI model provider we use. The provider processes it to produce the answer.
  • Your files and chats are not used to train AI models.
  • We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
  • Other people in your district can see files only in shared folders you or your groups have access to. Your personal folder is yours.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. We delete it when you or your district ask us to, or when your district leaves the pilot.
